Rachel’s Womanifesto
You will not abuse me
Not with your words, your looks, or
your hands.
You will not question my ability nor my role,
as a sister,
a mother, a lover, a worker, a thinker or a friend.
You will see my eyes and my face when I speak to you
and you
will hear my voice as well.
You will not hold me down
with your lies, your force, your
fashions, or your laws.
You will accept who I am
and what I am
and what I want to be.
Generations of me will knock at your door
Demanding our lives be our own
SHE is HER own
and you will not take it from me
because you will not take
what belongs to me, to she.
