Every day I wake up and I fight
When I hand a boy a free condom and they joke they’ll rape a girl with it
When I have to explain to someone what Patriarchy means and why it’s wrong
When someone tells me to get back in the kitchen and smiles
When I want to discuss sex and people act like I’m disturbed
And every time I want to scream
SHUT THE FUCK UP!
I am SICK of the jokes
I am SICK of feeling like I can’t enjoy my sexuality
I am SICK of mainstream society telling me how
My body should look
I should think
Men’s needs come before mine
When it all seems too much
I remind myself of these things
That I AM
I AM strong enough if I try
I AM beautiful no matter what any fuckers say
I AM a fighter
a survivor
a drinker
a swearer (fuck)
a rocking lover
a big sister
a kick ass daughter
a FEMINIST
And I will apologize…
For absolutely none of it
I know what utopia means
I know what kind of a world I want to raise my future daughters in
One where they can play with dump trucks OR Barbies, whatever they want
One where I don’t have to teach them techniques to prevent rape
One where they can have JUST AS MANY orgasms as men with nobody judging them
One where they can look at me and KNOW
That their mother helped change the world
To shape it just for them
That’s the POINT OF ALL OF THIS
We have to change the world
So our kids can know it’s possible
