When I ask all of the women and men that I work with, got to school with, or leave any particularly unsettling place at any particularly unsettling time with, If I can walk with them... "that's self protection"
I will not apologize for hounding my dearest friend to leave the asshole
she is dating
I will not apologize for loving my mother I will not apologize
for teaching my mother
I will not apologize for telling my mother, sister,
lover, friend, boss, co-worker, class- mates, professors "how it is"

will not apologize for "interfering" with my aunts and uncles when
it comes to taking proper care of my Grandmother who is afflicted with Altzimers
I will not apologize for my mountains and valleys of stretch marks
I will
not apologize for giving birth to my son when I was 19
I will not apologize
for having unprotected sex and thinking "it won't happen to me" for
all of my teenage years I will not apologize for being human
I will not apologize
for cutting all of my hair off every month or so (low
maintenance) even though everyone thinks I'm a nazi
I will not apologize for getting all A's
I will not apologize for creating the best art I can
I will not apologize for being successful
I will not apologize for being smarter, earning more money, or making better
art than the men around me I will stop saying "I'm sorry" at every
turn
I will give myself as much time as I need to stop because "that's
self-protection"
