Beandrea Davis’s womanifesto

you are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. —Desiderata

I have a right to...

feel healthy in mind, body, and spirit

say no and mean no

say yes and mean yes

change my mind whenever it becomes appropriate to my awareness and my needs

welcome people who affirm my greatness and their own

distance my self from people who require that I shrink or distort myself in any way in order to be with them

live boldly, freely with gusto and sometimes, with fear

express my truth without imposing it unwillfully upon others

experience joy and lovingkindness

to dance to the music of silence

to stillness in the midst of chaos
to feel my own innate OKness radiate through my being

to lie down with my face nestled into the soft surface beneath me and feel

to clap and sing and cry, separately or all at the same time

to accept these rights as my Divine birthright, to wrap them around me like a shawl all my days on the Earth

to change, to evolve, to grow without straining to expand without brute force

I have a right to be large, as large as the universe created me to be.

May all beings walk the Earth with an inherent sense of their own rightness, their own unique footing, with grace and mercy in the palm of their hands.
